My name is Kathy, and I have always been fascinated by colour and light.

I was the child with a pencil or paintbrush in her hand.

I didn't really discover photography until I had my own children and felt a need to capture each precious memory in picture form. 

I took every class, course and learning opportunity I could to develop my knowledge and skills.

​

As you can tell from my profile picture I am much more comfortable behind the lens than in front of it. In our home I have always been the recorder of family history. I take the photos at all our family gatherings and social events, and with a big family of grown up kids, their partners and a now a brood of grandchildren that my husband and I dearly love it has kept my heart full.

 

My aspiration has always the same throughout the years, whether taking photos of family or for clients. I want to capture moments for others to treasure later.

For many years I have been an early years  teacher. I love helping young children discover and learn, and seeing  wonder and joy in their eyes. I bring my experience to my role as a family and children's photographer as I know how children think and act.

​

It is a time of change for me.

I am now enjoying being a photographer, an artist, a children's book illustrator and a sometimes teacher. All my dream jobs at once.

 

The name 'Just Alabaster' came about from listening to a story that is recounted in the Christian Tradition. A women came to Jesus and broke open an alabaster jar full of expensive perfume as a gift to honour him. It was all she had of worth. It might not have been silver or gold but she gave it willingly.

We all have gifts and abilities we can use to make the world that bit better.

I believe I can use mine to serve and encourage others.

​
