Aspiration Photo Storybooks

Not a mass produced fill in the gaps book, but something completely unique and destined to be a lifelong
treasure?
Just Alabaster offers Aspirations photo storybooks. Books that include pictures that are composites
of photos and illustrations. The text of the story is developed in consultation with the clients and according to
their interests. Once the storyline and text are decided upon, a photo session will be booked. This will typically
involve dressing up and sometimes face painting. Depending on the theme, it may be photographed in the
clients’ home, in front of a screen or at another suitable location.
Once the photos are taken images will be created and presented as a storyboard.
Clients will be consulted regarding the type and quantity of the books to be produced. After editing and
proofing the book will be sent to the printers.
Aspirations Packages include:
Consultation with the client regarding the storyline, style and text they wish.
A photography session.
Face painting and dress ups if suited to the theme.
Editing of the photos to create illustrations for the client’s story (including use of composite photography
techniques, painting and drawing.)
Presentation of a digital storyboard displaying the illustrations and text for the story.
High resolution jpeg images will be provided for the illustrations intended for each page.
Consultation regarding the type and quantity of book to be produced.
$375 for at least 10 illustrations using composite photography techniques (to be used in a 20 page book.)
$450 for at least 10 illustrations using both composite photography and painting or drawing (to be used in a
20 page book.)
$600 for at least 16 illustrations using composite photography techniques (to be used in a 32 page book.)
$750 for at least 16 illustrations using both composite photography techniques and painting or drawing
(to be used in a 32 page book.)
Please note that payment is required prior to the photography session.
Please also note that the printing costs are extra. These costs are variable depending of the type of book to
be produced. As an indication, expect to pay between $100 and $150 for an A4 sized book, depending on
whether it is hard covered or soft covered book, and the number of pages, typically 20 or 32.
Most of the price is in the printers’ set up costs. The cost per book typically reduces significantly as numbers
of copies increase.
As each commission is unique, the process will take time. Every effort is made to complete the commission promptly; however, if you are intending the book to be given as a gift at a particular time, please allow 2-3 months between the photo session and the intended date to be sure you receive it in time.
